Get Pre-Cleared by Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office for Interpreting in Jails/Detention Centers

Per the MCSO:

Anyone entering our facilities need approval prior to visiting. This approval consists of a brief records check (Click to Download Document)which is attached above. Submittal of each records check should also include a copy of the applicant’s valid, government issued identification, to include a signature.

Once access is granted, the applicants name and contact info are maintained in a database showing active status. Access is good for two years at which point a renewal will be required. It is how we maintain accurate, on-going records of those provided. If the access has not been renewed at the two year mark, it will be deemed inactive for a period of three months, but not remove. If access is not renewed within that three month period, access will be removed all together.

All checks should be sent to me William Schwarz william.schwarz@mcso.us along with the copy of their ID. There is some turnaround involved (1 week) so please be sure to share that any request to expedite will require a valid reason (as in there is a pending request for my services on 10/20/2017 for example). Also, E-mail is the preferred method.

Here are a few things that are also a must:

  • All checks must be complete, to include a signature and all required fields filled in, and legible;
  • No abbreviations should be used;
  • The “previous incarcerations or convictions” section MUST be filled in. If none, the “NO” box should be marked, if “YES” all information should be included as instructed. Any omission is considered the same as lying and may result in an immediate denial.
